Get to know Carlos Corberán better
Review his career here: his training in Spain and his journey through Saudi Arabia, Cyprus, Greece and England.
Carlos Soler scored the only goal of Valencia CF's win against Real Valladolid at the José Zorilla, striking in the second half to give the team a much deserved victory on the road. The midfielder spoke to VCF Media after the final whistle, expressing his happiness with the goal and the result.
"It was a very important game, because I think that we'd been doing things well recently. We might have lacked a game in which we had a good rhythm over 90 minutes. Today it was important that we kept a clean sheet," he said
"We had a very complete game and I think that we were worthy winners. It's true that they might feel that they hit the post and had chances, but I think that in the first and second halves we had opportunities: Maxi Gómez hit the post and Manu Vallejo had a goal disallowed. We had a lot of clear chances to make it 0-2 and make things a little calmer, but this is all about struggling through, and it's going to be like that throughout the season. These three points help us to have confidence, and I hope that in the next game we take another three points -which would make us see things completely differently."
Regarding his latest goal for the club, Soler revealed that he had seen the opportunity beforehand and had the strike from outside the area planned ahead of time.
"There was a move before with José Luis Gayà, in which I had asked for him to cut the ball back but he crossed it, with the goalkeeper saving. I asked him for it again the second time around, and I was in space. I took the shot, and I suppose the goalkeeper couldn't see well because of the players in the way," explained Soler.
"I'm very happy to have helped the team. These three points are very important, and you could see that in our celebrations at the end. We have all been united and this has to be the way forward."
"We came here with the intention of taking the three points. We did that. The celebration after the game came naturally. It's true that we haven't achieved anything yet, but I think that these three points are very important for what is coming up. I hope that we can face the next game in the same way, with the same seriousness and intensity."
